After working together on several projects and building a relationship that started in 2001, Simpson College once again turned to Graham Construction for the construction of their new student center. The old student center was out dated, inefficient, not ADA compliant and was demolished to make room for the new facility. The Kent Campus Center will be a beautiful new addition to the campus. The 55,000 two story structure will house all of the college’s student services including student development offices and student government offices. Amenities include a “black box” performance theater, multi-functional event space, a book store and four restaurants. Students will have a variety of dining choices from Red Mango, Aubonpain, and Smashers Sports Bar to Starbucks. When completed, the building will receive a LEED Silver Certification from the USGBC. Some of the highlights of the LEED Silver Certification are a geothermal HVAC system, LED lighting, a white roof and high efficiency mechanical and electrical systems.
