Graham Construction was selected as the Construction Manager for the Mercy Emergency Department Addition and Remodel Project to facilitate a new10,000 SF addition to the front of the building, while keeping the Emergency Department open and in operation. This required Graham to first build a temporary ambulance drop off area with an elevator and temporary enclosed rooftop corridor to provide access for trauma patients to the Emergency Department.
The addition’s first story includes replacing the existing ambulance garage with a new three story atrium, new waiting area and reception desk, new trauma and treatment rooms, and a new ambulance garage. The second story addition includes 8,500 SF of staff offices, conference rooms, break room, locker rooms and dispatch area. The third story includes a new vestibule to the new helipad on the roof. The remodel includes a three phase interior remodel of the existing 15,000 SFf area to provide new trauma and treatment rooms, new nurse stations, and staff work areas. All of this work was done in and around one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the State of Iowa.
