Eurofins Scientific is a global leader in the testing and analysis/verification of food, beverage, dietary supplements, pet foods and grains. When they made the decision to consolidate their Des Moines lab operations into one central location they turned to Graham Construction to coordinate their construction and relocation. Eurofins purchased an existing building which was renovated to provide 33,000 square feet of laboratory space in addition to 16,000 square feet of office. The existing building’s mechanical infrastructure was upgraded significantly to provide adequate heating, cooling and ventilation. The lab also required significant plumbing changes as well as the addition of lab gases and a reverse osmosis water system. The size of the electrical service was increased and provided with back up generation. Graham’s extensive experience with biotechnical lab construction was instrumental in facilitating a smooth move to the new facility. A move schedule was established to allow existing lab equipment to be disconnected and moved to the new location over a two week period to minimize the disruption to Eurofins’ normal business operations.
